“I remember how being young and black and gay and lonely felt. A lot of it was fine, feeling I had the truth and the light and the key, but a lot of it was purely hell.”
Ah yes, time for a break. Here is my suggestion. You should quit school and get a job in one of those bohemian, independant coffee shops where they have weekly poetry readings and ACLU meetings. You'll meet lots of interesting and quirky people, perhaps even a lover or two. Once you have worked there for a year, you can use the money you made to travel somewhere exotic like Argentina (although I guess South Africa would be a good choice for you). Then you can come back filled with a sense of wonder and excitement, a fresh outlook on life, and a deeper connection to yourself, not just as a black woman, but as a lesbian. And then, armed with that sense of passion, you can totally bypass school and become an illegal arms dealer. Hey, I never said it'd be a good suggestion...
amen, amen amen amen amen.absolutely amen.and can I hear, an AMEN????that is SOOOO what I'm feeling right now.darkmind, you have a great suggestion.(with the exception of the arms dealer!! :p--maybe we could all come back to do our america's top model competition or something)
